For guests not able to travel to the traditional safari areas of South Africa such as the Kruger National Park, there is now an option for a day-trip safari experience within driving distance of Cape Town.

Aquila Private Game Reserve

Aquila is a private game reserve located in the Klein Karoo (semi-desert) region approx. 2 hours drive North-east of Cape Town. Over the past several years they have undertaken an ambitious wildlife re-introduction programme to their private game reserve. As a result, it is now possible to see the ‘Big Five’ in the Western Cape at their Game Reserve. The following activities can be part of a tour to Aquila.

4×4 Game Drives

Aquila offers morning and evening game drives with qualified field rangers in open 4×4 vehicles. Game drives range between two and three hours with drinks and snacks served at various lookout points. Blankets and raincoats are made available to guests on the 4×4 vehicles. Wooden stepladders are also used to assist guests from getting on and off the vehicles.

Horse-back Safari

No experience is required. Minimum age requirement is 16 yrs old. There is a maximum of 9 people per safari which are guided by one of Aquila’s rangers. Duration: 2 hours

Quad bike Safari

Minimum age requirement is 16 yrs old. There is a maximum of 10 people per safari guided by two Aquila rangers. 1 client per vehicle. Duration: 2 hours

Antares Day Trip to Aquila
