Kruger National Park

“Paws, Jaws, Hooves and Horns”

Day 1: Johannesburg to Hazyview.

On entering the International Arrivals hall at Johannesburg International Airport, you will be welcomed by your guide who will assist you to convert cash or traveller’s cheques at the best rate. Any last-minute purchases of film, sunscreen lotion, etc, can also be done here.

Travel via the Longtom pass to the Kruger National Park. Relax after the rush since leaving home, put your feet up and wind down. After dinner you may choose an early night to “sleep off” the aircraft trip. Alternately, an early evening visit to the nearby Shangaan tribal village for a demonstration of local dancing and singing, is well worthwhile.

Day 2: Panorama Route.

After breakfast, travel to the well-preserved village of Pilgrim’s Rest which was a gold-boom town of the late 1880’s. Although it became practically deserted when the lode ran out, it has been restored to it’s former glory with a yearly gold-panning competition which draws panning enthusiasts from all over the world. Explore the town on your own before leaving for the nearby town of Graskop for an early lunch-time treat at Harrie’s pancake parlour with savoury or sweet fillings.

Onwards to explore the awesome Blyde River Canyon, with breathtaking views of mountains, waterfalls and gorges. Wonder at the unbelievable scenery through “God’s Window”, at the awesome power of the water which scoured out the “Bourke’s Luck” potholes, and the three “rondawels” – sculpted from the earth by eons of wind and water action.

Day 3: Game-viewing in Kruger National Park.

We depart early to enter the Kruger National Park as soon as the gates open. Spend the exploring this magnificent game park. With luck, all of the “Big Five” – free-ranging lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino – are to be seen. Numerous other animals, antelope and bird species also abound. During the game drive, your guide will point out and explain the factors influencing the fine balance of the park’s eco-system. Exit the park shortly before the gates close for the night. Stay overnight in Hazyview.

Day 4: Hazyview to Johannesburg.

Day 4: Time permitting, take an early morning game drive in the Park. Enjoy your packed breakfast at Skukuza camp before exiting the park to arrive back in Johannesburg in time for the next leg of your journey.
