CAPE TOWN TOUR

Cape Town City and Table Mountain Tour

Table Mountain Cape Town

What better way could there possibly be to start the tour, than with a cableway ride to the top of Table Mountain (weather permitting), for the unbelievable spectacle of one of the world's most beautiful cities lying between Table Bay and the foot of the mountain. Take a stroll around the top and meet some of the inhabitants, the ever-present "Dassies" (rock hyrax). Their main purpose in life is to laze around on the rocks, soaking up as much sun as possible but still keeping a wary eye open for the Black Eagles who regard them as "lunch".

Bo Kaap

Cape Town Tour

Back down off the mountain the route leads through the picturesque "Bo-Kaap" with it's well-kept mosques and brightly coloured houses, first settled by numerous liberated slaves more than 160 years ago.

The city tour includes a visit to the oldest building in South Africa - the Castle of Good Hope, fortification and seat of government for many years.

Cape Town Company Gardens

Stroll through the Dutch East India Company Gardens, established by the Dutch to provide fresh vegetables at the Cape to combat the dreaded scurvy disease which caused many deaths on the long voyages between Europe and the spice islands of the East.

Visit the vibrant Victoria and Alfred Waterfront with it's scores of modern shops, restaurants, entertainers and craft shops. This is one of Cape Town's favourite and interesting meeting places. Many craft are still active in this small harbour, offering guided harbour cruises, sunset cruises and also cruises to Robben Island, South Africa's erstwhile "Alcatraz".
