Kirstenbosch Gardens & Groot Constantia Estate Tour
"The Gardeners Delight

Take the freeway that hugs the “Devil’s Peak” mountain to the eastern side of Table Mountain, to reach South Africa’s prime garden, the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden. Covering an area of more than 520 hectares, it features over a third of South Africa’s more than fifteen thousand species of flora. A wonderland for botanists as well as those who just enjoy seeing plants and flowers. No need to be a botanist, all the plants are tagged for easy identification. Kirstenbosch is a favourite for mothers who bring the children to run around and play on the spacious lawns.
The garden also features a conservatory to protect the plants that are found in the semi-desert areas of South Africa from excess moisture.
The curio shop is very well stocked with a wide range of books, postcards, seed and a wide variety of other interesting items. Lunch break is in Kirstenbosch which has a very good restaurant catering for just about any taste.
Depart early afternoon to the Groot Constantia Estate. Your guide will take you on a tour of the estate which will also include the manor house and outbuildings. Groot Constantia was renowned for it’s wines which was even sought after by the nobility of France. Napoleon, on his deathbed, is reputed to have asked for a glass of sweet Constantia wine.
The tour concludes with the option of tasting Groot Constantia’s wine.
